Take Action Against More Nuclear Waste at SRS!

IMAGE_Savannah River

The Savannah River Site Citizen's Advisory Board (SRS CAB)Waste Committee is debating whether or not to let 75,000 tons of high level radioactive nuclear waste come to the Savannah River Site on the Georgia/South Carolina border!

The CAB needs to hear from Georgia residents that we do not consent to this waste in our backyard. The communities that house SRS are already overburdened by environmental contamination and SRS needs to focus on its main mission, environmental cleanup.

Take action today by contacting the CAB and plan to attend upcoming waste committee and full CAB meetings.

CONTACT the SRS CAB and let them know we don't consent to more waste in our backyard!

ATTEND - Waste Management Committee Meeting on July 15

Join Georgia WAND at a special SRS CAB Waste Management Committee meeting where they will be discussing the different versions of the draft position statement on interim storage of used nuclear fuel at SRS. There are currently two general positions that the CAB can take. One would be that the CAB does not want to store commercial waste at SRS under any circumstances. Another would be that the CAB would support the storage of spent nuclear fuel given the ability to participate in the Consent Process and the proper incentives.

At this meeting, they will be deciding on ONE position to be presented to the full CAB about SRS becoming storage for nuclear waste. Now is the time to speak out about why SRS should not become interim storage for nuclear waste!

Monday, July 15 at 6 PM, Department Of Energy Meeting Center (at Rear of Aiken Design Center), 230 Village Green Blvd., Suite 220, Aiken, SC 29801
