The Savannah River Site Citizens Advisory Board (SRS CAB) will meet on September 24-25, 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel 2100 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210.
Day one will consist of updates from the Department of Energy (DOE), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC), committees, and discussion on recommendations 354, 355, and draft recommendations. Voting items during the full CAB will be on the closure of recommendation 354, which is a recommendation to reclassify certain high-level waste to enable acceleration of disposal and reduction costs, and recommendation 355 on Budget, Pension, & Scope, which requests that the DOE increase the Savannah River Site (SRS) budget to fund the Environmental Management (EM) mission at currently planned levels and to fully fund the SRS pension. There will also be votes on draft recommendations for a Pollinator Management Programand for Plant Indigenous Flowering Plants on Industrial Landfills.
Please join Georgia WAND as we continue watchdogging SRS and the ongoing nuclear activities and legacy clean up at the nuclear weapons complex just across the river from Georgia.
