On February 12, the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC), Partnership for Southern Equity, and Georgia Interfaith Power and Light filed a lawsuit against the PSC in the Fulton County Superior Court. The lawsuit brings up five legal claims and requests that PSC reverse its decision to continue construction on the new Vogtle reactors 3 and 4. The lawsuit says the the PSC violated its own rules in approving spending on Vogtle that would double the cost of the project.
Nuclear Watch South has asked the Georgia Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors to open an investigation into Georgia Power. Both Southern Nuclear and Southern Company have engineering licenses in Georgia that expired in 2000.
