Atlanta, Georgia – The Georgia Redistricting Alliance will  hosting Gerrymandering: The Community Event Tuesday March 22, 2011.   This is part of Redistricting Week which aims to celebrate, educate and engage citizens in the redistricting process.

Gerrymandering: The Community Event will feature a Q&A panel of local experts, including Dr. Kerwin Swint, state board of directors, Common Cause, Tracey-Ann Nelson, Executive Director, League of Women Voters of Georgia and Nancy Abudu, Staff Council,  American Civil Liberties Union, following selected clips from the documentary “Gerrymandering” (2010).

“Redistricting is occurring all across Georgia this year and we think it is imperative that citizens have a voice in the process,”  Nelson said.  “On Tuesday we will start the dialog about the redistricting process, what it means for communities and how citizens can have a voice in the process.”

The Georgia Redistricting Alliance is a coalition of non-partisan, open government organizations interested in seeing that the redistricting process in Georgia is open, fair and equitable.
