Nuclear Committee Meeting

Please join Georgia WAND to discuss current actions to take in our struggle to create a nuclear-free world. This month will focus on a plan of action for Public Service Commission open meeting November 8 to discuss Georgia Power rate hikes.

November 2
Election Day

Georgia WAND will be command central on election day. We'll be phone banking all day to reach targeted citizens in Gwinnett and Fulton counties. We'll be reaching out to ensure these voters have received their voter registration card and know their voting precinct and offer rides to the polls

Please join the efforts to help area citizens get out and vote!

When: Tuesday, November 2, 9am to 5pm

Public Service Commission open meeting

Speak up, speak out on the proposed Georgia Power rate increase (almost 12%). Don't miss this opportunity to voice your opposition to Georgia Power's plans.

Constituent delegations will visit Senator Saxby Chambliss and staff to urge him to vote in favor of ratification of New START.

Join the Friends Committee on National Legislation as they host 200 Friends from around the country for skills building, strategizing, and lobbying.

"A Small Act" screening

Don't miss this presentation the HBO film that reveals just how powerful a gesture of kindness and generosity can be, and that an education is perhaps the most generous gift of all.

When: Monday, November 15, 7:00pm

Where: The King Center, Freedom Hall Auditorim

Sweet Honey in the Rock

Come hear Sweet Honey in Sweet Auburn, the spiritual Center of the civil rights movement, in a benefit performance for People of Faith Against the Death Penalty. Steeped in the sacred music of the black church, the clarion calls of the civil rights movement, and songs of the struggle for justice, the Grammy-winning ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock blends soulful harmonies and intricate rhythms in an unmatched a cappella experience.

November 18
Phone Banking for New START

Let's keep the momentum going! Help us convince Senator Saxby Chambliss to follow Senator Johnny Isakson's lead and vote in favor of the New START, which needs a 2/3 majority vote in the senate for ratification.

Join us as we phone fellow Georgians to ask them to urge our Senator Chambliss to support the treaty. We'll provide you with a script and explain the details of the New START treaty to make sure your an expert before you call.

When: Thursday November 18,  5:30-8:30 pm

School of the Americas Protest

Join thousands of peace makers from across the country as they  gather at the gates of Fort Benning to stand up for justice and call for the School of the Americas to be shut down.

Runoff Election Day

November 30 is Runoff Election Day! Georgia WAND will be driving seniors to the polls from 9 am to 1 pm.
