On Sunday, May 21, 2017, Georgia WAND held our annual signature event, Mother’s Day for Peace, at Agnes Scott College.
During the event, Georgia WAND introduced Shell Bluff Community organizers new to our team, Natalie Herrington and Janie Scott.
With great honor, we bestowed our annual Mother’s Day for Peace awards to five beloved movement leaders within our community: Rev. Gerald Durley, Emilia Pasalic, Tina Pippin, Columbus Ward, and Rev. Leo Woodberry.
This year’s featured speakers, Mustafa Ali and Alex Toma gave a compelling examination of the façade of “safety and security”as it pertains to visioning peace and justice in the U.S. South.
We recieved great feedback from guests about having such a content rich and moving event. We offer our most sincere appreciation to Agnes Scott College, all the MD4P Host Committee members, ad sponsors, supporters, and volunteers.
