In the state of Georgia, 13,929 victims of sexual violence and 30,177 adult and child victims of domestic violence are served annually. Georgia ranks 10th in the nation for the rate at which women are killed by men. 3,391 requests were unmet for domestic violence shelters due to lack of space in 2012. Victims of rape and sexual assault in 52 Georgia counties have limited or no access to services of a sexual assault center.

One Billion Rising is a worldwide revolution against violence. It is also a movement for peace and empowerment. This V-day, February 14, One Billion Rising Atlanta is an all-day event that will be just one amazing piece of a global uprising, speaking out to end violence against women through striking, dancing, and dreaming.
