Mentor Walk 2011
On Saturday September 10, 2011, Georgia WAND We Count! representatives participated in the first ever Carolyn Young Mentor Walk. The walk that took place on the Agnes Scott College campus, and was created to bring awareness to the alarmingly high high school dropout rate here in Georgia. Mentoring organizations from around the metro area joined the walk. This was an opportunity for We Count! to engage with not only the several progressive local organizations involved in the Mentor Walk, but also college students who were on hand to help with the day's activities . We Count! received about 30 voter pledges on Saturday from voters who promised to vote in the 2012 elections . The walk included countless state elected official and Ambassador Andrew Young and his wife Carolyn Young – the creator/founder of Mentor Walk.
