Georgia WAND and Community Partner Event: Stand for Peace
Come out to Stand for Peace every Friday at 12 PM! Spread the message of peace at this weekly vigil, and then afterwards, join folks in the Colony Square Food Court for lunch, discussion, and fellowship.
Stand for Peace began over ten years ago to speak out against the Iraq War, and still continues every week to promote the message of ending wars and building peace.

Memorial for Kendrick Johnson
The KJ Memorial event will be held on January 11, 2014 in Valdosta, GA. January 11th is the date Kendrick Johnson was found dead in the gym at Lowndes County High School. A year later, countless protest, rallies, petitions, new evidence revealed, and after a federal investigation launched, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Lowndes County Authorities have refused to open an investigation into the growing cover-up of the murder of Kendrick Johnson.

Grandmothers for Peace Essay Awards
Support the next generation of peace activists at the Grandmothers for Peace Essay Awards Ceremony.. Congressman John Lewis has been invited to the Awards Ceremony to award the checks to the essay winners. Light refreshments will be provided.

Moral Monday Georgia Kickoff Rally
Georgia needs more Medicaid! Join Moral Monday Georgia at the Georgia State Capitol for our first rally, 4-6 pm on January 13, 2014.
Medicaid expansion has the potential to provide access to health insurance to 650,000 of our most low-income Georgians, prevent over 3,600 deaths each year and create nearly 70,000 more jobs for the state of Georgia.
Join us at the rally and help us demand that Governor Deal expand Medicaid NOW! Guest speakers include spokespeople from Georgia community, labor and faith-based organizations.

"GMO OMG" Film Premiere
Jeremy Seifert’s timely new documentary GMO OMG, the entertaining yet hard-hitting investigation of how laboratory-assisted genetic modification of food affects the world around us is coming to Atlanta. Savannah River Site Citizens Advisory Board Meeting
The SRS CAB needs to hear from you! The full board will vote on whether or not to support enviornmental radiation monitoring in Georgia, a critical program for communities downwind and downstream of SRS. Join Georgia WAND leaders from across the state to speak up in support of monitoring at the meetings on January 27 and 28! Rides from Atlanta and Waynesboro are being arranged.
