Come to the Georgia WAND office to discuss current actions to take in our struggle to create a nuclear-free world. We'll focus on the upcoming Blue Ribbon Commission Meeting in Augusta

Women in the Halls Cocktail Party

Support a party with a purpose! The 2011 state legislative session is upon us, and we are kicking it off in style!  Planned Parenthood Action Fund of Georgia invites you to a night of food, fun and festivities.  And a little civic action, too!

Help celebrate the 7th year of a weekly citizen lobbying program Women in the Halls, Planned Parenthood Action Fund will join with Feminist Women’s Health Center and other progressive organizations every Wednesday for lobby training, updates on pertinent legislation, talking points, and fact sheets.  Together, we'll fill the halls and fight for responsible legislation for ALL Georgians!

Stand for Peace

Join us at Colony Square to stand for peace, showing our commitment  to end the war. Meet dedicated WAND members at Stand for Peace and stick around for lunch afterward. We will continue to stand every Friday until the war ends in Iraq and the troops are sent home from Afghanistan.

A Day On, Not a Day Off!

Join Georgia WAND as we join in the celebrations for the 25th Anniversary of the King Holiday.  We'll meet at 12:30 at the Equitable Building, the corner of Peachtree and Luckie, in front of Starbucks. We'll have drums, feel free to bring your own signs.

FWHC Stand Up for Reproductive Justice

Attend the Feminist Women's Health Center annual fundraiser, Stand Up for Reproductive Justice! Join Georgia WAND in supporting the Feminist Women's Health Center and their mission to provide accessible, comprehensive gynecological health care to all who need it, without judgment.

Rally Against Endless War!

Join Georgia WAND and the Georgia Peace & Justice Coalition  to protest the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, increased military spending, repeals to the new healthcare law, and the unjust imprisonment of soldiers like Bradley Manning!

January 28
International Civil Rights Walk of Fame

Footsteps of ten new revered civil rights icons will be added to the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame during the 2011 Trumpet Awards events. The program preceding the induction ceremony will be held at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. The ceremonial host for this year's occasion is Frank Ski of WVEE FM (V103) Radio. The program and unveiling of the footsteps are FREE and OPEN to the public.

The 2011 honorees in this distinguished group include Georgia WAND Advisory Board member The Right Reverend Bishop Barbara King,  Arthur Blank, James Brown, The Reverend Dr. Gerald Durley, Biship Neil C. Ellis, Leon Hall,  Marc H. Morial, Mayor Carl Stokes, Congressman Louis Stokes and Henry "Hank" Thomas.

When: Friday, January 28, 10am - 12pm

Where: Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site, 450 Auburn Avenue

The International Civil Rights Walk of Fame was created in 2004 to give recognition to the foot soldiers of justice who sacrificed and struggled to make equality a reality for all. The shoes used to create the footsteps will also be on display durign the unveiling program.
