Georgia WAND and Community Partner Event: Stand for Peace

Come out to Stand for Peace every Friday at 12 PM! Spread the message of peace at this weekly vigil, and then afterwards, join folks in the Colony Square Food Court for lunch, discussion, and fellowship.

Stand for Peace began over ten years ago to speak out against the Iraq War, and still continues every week to promote the message of ending wars and building peace.

Join us for holiday cheer and a yummy potluck as we take time to break bread and share in the spirit of the season.

Advancing Human Rights 2013: Dignity. Justice. Action

The US Human Rights Network Conference is the primary national gathering of human rights and social justice advocates. Georgia WAND is thrilled to present a workshop Environmental and Climate Justice: Two sides of the same coin in partnership with the Indigenous Environmental Network. Click here to register!

Mass Rally in Support of Medicaid Expansion

A diverse group of organizations and individuals are coming together to rally in support of Medicaid expansion in front of Grady Hospital. Medicaid expansion would provide coverage for over 650,000 Georgia residents, create over 70,000 new jobs in Georgia, and prevent over 3,600 deaths a year in Georgia all at zero cost to the state of Georgia over the first 3 years.

The Winter Flame, a benefit for Spark! Reproductive Justice Now

The Winter Flame is an evening to support SPARK Reproductive Justice NOW featuring glass blowing, performances, oral history, refreshments and more!

March to Publix at Perimeter for Farmworker Justice

Support the Coalition of Imokalee Workers in their work to get Publix to pay a penny a pound more for tomatoes to support workers in Imokalee, FL. This march is part of the US Human Rights Network Conference.

Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition Holiday Party!

Come enjoy a good time with the Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition and the 414 Collective at this holiday party and singalong. Feel free to bring a dish to this potluck celebration.

End Georgia Stand Your Ground Town Hall Meeting

This  town hall meeting hosted by Senator Vincent Fort and Georgia Millennials Movement will focus on the political, legal and community implications associated with the repeal of Stand Your Ground.

Atlanta Fair Food Meeting

Publix Supermarkets has spent four years refusing to join the CIW's acclaimed solution to farmworker abuse, the Fair Food Program. With Publix's regional headquarters based in Atlanta, Publix could be swayed by Altanta residents taking action.

Building Better Communities event

This community event sponsored by Georgia WAND and the Coalition for the People's Agenda near Waynesboro, Georgia will feature workshops on voting rights, Medicaid Expansion, community health, career building and how to prepare for college. Lunch will be served. Transportation and childcare provided.
