Who Owns the Drone?

The Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition's Drone Task Force and Georgia WAND invites students, scientists, teachers and researchers to join us for light refreshments and to participate in a round table discussion about the application and ownership of technology, research and knowledge in society. We will explore who does (or should) get to decide how scientific research is used, and who profits fro it, with a special focus on the development of unmanned aerial vehicles and autonomous robots going on at Georgia Tech.

Caner Pilot Study for Communities Living Near Nuclear Sites

The National Academy of Science's Committee tasked with planning the pilot study of Analysis of Cancer Risks in Population near Nuclear Facilities is scheduled to hold its third public meeting at the Beckman Center, located in Irvine, California. Women and children are more susceptible to radiation damage and NAS's Phase I report, which set the groundwork for Phase II, recognized that childhood leukemia is a sentinel cancer for radiation exposure -- a connection indicated by study results in both France and Germany. The study will look at seven initial sites, only one of which - Nuclear Fuel Services  in Erwin, Tennessee - is in the Southeast.

Wage Theft Demonstration

On March 18, workers in over 30 cities protested wage theft at McDonald's. The truth is, wage theft is a problem in every fast food restaurant. On April 3 workers and community supporters will come together nationwide to stand against wage theft in the fast food industry.

Memorial for Roberto Moraes

Join the Atlanta peace and justice community and the friends and family of Roberto Moraes in honoring his life and legacy. Roberto,  well-known progressive activist throughout the Metro Atlanta area was a dedicated and tireless advocate fro justice. Roberto worked on issues surrounding the environment, immigration, the death penalty, women's rights and more.

Showing Up for Immigrant Justice

Hit the streets with us to demand an end to deportations in the United States as parts of the National Day Laborer Organizing Networks, Not1More campaign. Walk all out in the streets with us to STOP Deportations and expand Deferred Action for all! Please wear comfortable shoes and bring your own water.

Forward Together for Medicaid Expansion - Rally at the People's Mansion

We're calling on all Georgian's to come Atlanta and stand with Moral Monday GA for a rally at the Governor's Mansion to tell Governor Deal that he MUST  veto the bill passed by the Georgia Legislature that attack everyday Georgians.

Stand Up for Reproductive Justice

The Feminist Health Center has been  stronghold for women's reproductive a=justice in the Southeast for nearly 40 years. The proceeds from FWHC's Stand Up for Reproductive Justice Awards Celebration provides funding for reduced - free clinical services, vital community education program, and our legislative advocacy at the state capitol. Host Committee members who join the Fierce, Fabulous and Fancy levels are warmly invited to a special Wince Reception an hour before the event at 6pm!

Tickets are $35!

The Right to Peace Walk

The Georgia Peace Coalition is organizing a Right to Peace Walk to call an end for drone testing in Georgia and to raise awareness about The School of the America's at Ft. Benning and drone research at Georgia Tech. The walk will begin at the gates of Ft. Benning in Columbus and end at the King Center in Atlanta.

Baptized in PCBs: Race, Pollution, and Justice in an All-American Town an Earth Month event co-sponsored by Georgia WAND

Join Charis and GA WAND for a very special presentation in honor of "Earth Month" by Ellen Griffith-Spears, author of Baptized n PCBs: Race, Pollution, and Justice in an All-American Town. Ellen Griffith-Spears offers a compelling narrative of Anniston's battle for environmental justice, exposing how systemic racial and class inequalities reinforced during the Jim Crow era played out in these intense contemporary social movements.

This is  Charis Circle Urban Sustainability and Wellness Event. The suggested donations is $5.
