Senators, please ratify nuclear reduction pact
I hope Sens. Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss vote to ratify the New START.
Thousands of aging nukes that will never be used (unless they fall into the wrong hands) do not make anyone safer. They have nothing to do with defense. It is fitting that this treaty is called “START,” since it would reduce nuclear arsenals in the U.S. and Russia to 1,500 warheads each. This is far more than enough for either country to annihilate the other, so we will still have a long way to go after START is implemented to abolish these weapons from the face of the Earth.
The U.S. will never persuade other countries to forgo nuclear weapons unless it leads by example.

TREATIES
Let’s raise our voices in support of New START
With partisan politics raging in Washington, the time has come for citizens to raise their voices in support of the New START.
The United States is facing significant security threats, from the risk of nuclear terrorism and growing proliferation concerns. The New START serves to mitigate these threats and builds global support for U.S. efforts to stop the spread of nuclear weapons.
Even with the New START limits, the U.S. will still maintain a strong nuclear deterrent. In order to improve our national security, I strongly encourage all Georgians to express support for START, and urge Sens. Chambliss and Isakson to vote for ratification.
